Reliable protection against highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses.

Protective clothing against H5N1 viruses

In the case of the so-called "bird flu", transmission of influenza viruses occurs via droplet infection (aerogenic) and indirect (smear) infection. Employees have to be protected when handling infected livestock. This includes all individuals who have direct contact with infected or potentially infected animals: e. g. Helpers who gather up dead animals and/or transport and dispose of them, individuals within poultry farming and slaughtering operations, and those in the laboratory. This is achieved through the use of adequate personal protective equipment, such as for example:

Comprehensive testing has proven the penetration and permeation properties of our protective equipments and the protective materials used, which ensure reliable barrier properties and thus a high protection against infection.

The German Commission for Biological Working Materials (ABAS) has issued the following resolutions for the handling of influenza viruses

  • "Empfehlung spezieller Maßnahmen zum Schutz der Beschäftigten vor Infektionen durch hochpathogene aviäre Influenzaviren (Klassische Geflügelpest, Vogelgrippe)"
"Recommendation of special measures for the protection of employees from infection by highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (classic poultry pest, bird flu) "
  • "Arbeitschutz beim Auftreten von Influenza unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Atemschutzes"
"Occupational health and safety measures during outbreaks of influenza, in particular respiratory protection“
